What is this variable annuity costing me in total?

Adds the contract-level charge to the weighted cost of the funds the money is invested in, which is the part rarely quoted together. It cannot know about riders or charges you have not entered.

Account value

The total value across all the funds.

Contract-level annual charge

Often called the mortality and expense risk charge. Enter as a percentage, for example 1.15.

Share of the money in the first group of funds

As a percentage, for example 60.

Average expense ratio of that first group

As a percentage, for example 0.85.

Average expense ratio of everything else

As a percentage, for example 0.55.

Flat annual contract fee, if any optional

In dollars. Leave blank if there is none.
